CYBE, HCHD

ANTEPARTUM, EDUCATION, BIRTH, POSTPARTUM, BELLY BINDING, PLACENTAS

Karis joins Tulsa Family Doulas as a wife to Gage and mom to two young kids, Evelyn and Herschel. She has also been a foster mom for three years and has fostered four other babies who are now with their forever families! Karis is a champion for others at heart, so combining her love for birth and supporting women in such an important transition in life was a natural step into becoming a doula.

Barely knowing what a doula was, Karis hired a friend to be a birth doula for her first child’s birth in 2017. After having a knowledgeable, supportive person in the room whose only role was to support her in the birth she wanted, Karis decided to always have the support of a doula during any future births. It wasn’t until a few years later while assisting her sister-in-law during labor that she decided to begin the training to become a birth and postpartum doula.

It doesn’t take long for Karis to become passionate about things she enjoys, and birth is no exception. Her other current passions in life are coffee, gardening, and chocolate chip cookies.

Karis graduated from Broken Arrow High School and went on to earn a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Oklahoma Baptist University. She is now continuing her education in various birth-related areas!
